Three patients with chronic bronchial asthma, requiring long term steroid therapy were treated with low dose methotrexate therapy: 17.5mg per a weeks, Their amount of steroid requirement to control symptoms were reduced in all cases. In one case,
methotrexate was discontinued due to progressive elevation of transaminase level at 7 months after beginning of the medication. It was concluded that low dose methotrexate therapy may be helpful in steroid dependent bronchial asthma.
